Owl With Stars In His Eyes

November 29, 2014

Meet Zeus, a blind Western Screech Owl with mesmerising starry eyes. One fine morning, Zeus was found injured on a porch in Southern California. The good Samaritan then brought it to the veterinary to be treated. Upon inspection, the veterinary ophthalmologist deemed him non-releasable as he has only about 10% of his vision and he would not be able to survive in the wild on his own. Hence, it found a new home at the Wildlife Learning Center in Sylmar, California.

He was named 'Zeus' after the Greek god of thunder and sky due to his amazing eyes which appear to have twinkling 'galaxies' stored in it. Actually, Zeus is having capsular cataract and the white flecks that glisten in his eyes like stars are simply caused by clots of protein and blood pigment. His eyes are so pretty that I could stare at them all day long, don't you agree?! What do you think about Zeus? Feel free to leave your views in the comments below. Otherwise, continue staring at those eyes of Zeus. Till then, au revoir! :)
