On August 18 2014, Taylor Swift announced her first single 'Shake It Off' from her latest fifth album '1989' ,which was the year she was born, during her worldwide live stream event on Yahoo! Both music video and the song were released on the same day, which a different moves compared to typical artists style where they will reveal their new song on iTunes before releasing the music video. In my humble opinion, the pop song and the album conveys a statement that Taylor Swift is shaking off from her usual country image! The music video depicts various types of dance including ballet, hip-hop, twerking, just to name a few.


While some critics label music video as offensive, I find that the music video is interesting eye-catching. It may be true that Taylor did not demonstrate her impeccable writing skills at her best through this song, however, the main point is that she is able to express herself perfectly through it.
