Dome Cafe

Several days ago, my friends and I went to visit the Johor Premium Outlet (JPO) Malaysia. It was apparently an out of the blue decision #yolo when one of my friends decided  to look for a Burberry watch (there is a Burberry store at the JPO) after we had our dinner. Despite being late night, there were visibly lots of cars heading to the same place as us. After browsing through several shops, we ended up at  DÔME Café, which is located at the left side of the first entrance. Originated from Perth, Australia, DÔME Café was founded by Patria Jaffries and Phil May back in 1993. Currently ,there are 18 outlets in Malaysia, ranging from Pulau Pinang (Penang) to Johor. In fact, the Dome cafe in JPO is the only branch available in Johor.


The cafe provides classic and elegant ambience, decorated with oakwood and chestnuts paraphernalia.The place has an warm inviting feeling, where cosy seats were provided in the cafe.

Orange Pekoe RM10.50

We ordered orange pekoe, mocha and scones as our supper before we left JPO. I though that the orange pekoe tea would taste like any other tea available in the market. Surprisingly, the aromatic tea tasted amazing with a thin scent of orange upon swallowing down my throat.

Mocha RM14.00

The presentation of the mocha was a little too 'atas' #highclass when we saw the waiter holding the the hot mocha glass with a zarf ( fancy metal sleeve). On tasting, the mocha was just average as my friend commented that it was too bland and would taste better if there were a lot more sprinkles of chocolate powder on it.

Heavenly Scone RM9.00

Browsing through YouTube, I saw this motivation video which makes me feel so hyped up to fully utilise my time each day instead of being unproductive (procrastination). This motivational 'Rise And Swim' video features some of the famous athletes such as Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte and the likes, and the audio by Red Productions will definitely smash your doubts and sceptical views about yourself. Instead of going into a whole megillah stating that you are incompetent and unable to do something, why not work hard and achieve it?! Enjoy the video below and feel motivated people! Rise and shine.
6am and your hand can't make it to the alarm clock before the voices in your head start telling you that it's too early, too dark, and too cold to get out of a bed.

Aching muscles lie still in rebellion, pretending not to hear your brain commanding them to move.

Welcome to The Grind.
For what is each day but a series of conflicts between the right way and the easy way, 10,000 streams fan out like a river delta before you, Each one promising the path of least resistance.

The Battle Royale between you and your mind, your body and the devil on your shoulder who's telling you that this is just a game, this is just a waste of time, your opponents are stronger than you.

Drown out the voice of uncertainty with the sound of your own heartbeat.
Burn away your self doubt with the fire that's beneath you.

Remember what you're fighting for.

And never forget that momentum is a cruel mistress, She can turn on a dime with the smallest mistake.

She is ever searching for that weak place in your armor, that one tiny thing you forgot to prepare for.

So as long as the devil is hiding the details, the question remains,"is that all you got?", "are you sure?"

And when the answer is "yes". That you've done all you can to prepare yourself for battle then it's time to go forth and boldly face your enemy, the enemy within.

Only now you must take that fight into the open, into hostile territory.

You're a lion in a field of lions…
All hunting the same elusive prey with a desperate starvation that says victory is the only thing that can keep you alive.

So believe that voice that says " you can run a little faster " and that " you can throw a little harder " and that " you can dive a little deeper" and that, for you, the laws of physics are merely a suggestion.

Luck is the last dying wish of those who wanna believe that winning can happen by accident, sweat on the other hand is for those who know it's a choice, so decide now because destiny waits for no man. And when your time comes and a thousand different voices are trying to tell you you're not ready for it, listen instead for that lone voice in decent the one that says you are ready, you are prepared, it's all up to you now.

So rise and shine.

I have been ridiculously busy this one whole week. Last weekend, I travelled back to my hometown as there were four days of holidays #homesicksyndrome ! Although the journey took up to 14 hours to and fro, who does not want to get back to their home whenever there is a chance?! After returning to the hostel two days ago, loads of homework were waiting for me. At the time being, I am slowly catching up with the studies that I have missed as well as the assignments where the deadline is on next week! Worst of all, I have barely did a single thing for it #studentproblems. Anyway, during my mini break (in between studies), I found this wonderful cover of The Beach Boys' masterpiece God Only Knows through the YouTube. In order to celebrate the launch of BBC Music, BBC has remade the song with a few  numerous eminent singers such as Lorde, One Direction, Pharrell Williams, Sam Smith, just to name a few to raise money for BBC Children In Need. My faith in humanity is restored!A five-month old stray dog fell into hot tar spilled around a construction site in Udaipur, Northern India, Covered in tar, the helpless dog could not move and was on the verge of death. Fortunately, a passer-by spotted the dog, which was given nickname as TAR BABY,  and contacted Animal Aid Unlimited, a local rescue center for street animals in India. According to Claire Abrams from the street animal welfare group, "We sent an ambulance and our rescuers managed to pull him out and bring him to our shelter". She further added," We could see his eyes darting back and forth in a panic, but otherwise he couldn't move a muscle." The group of rescuers then used vegetable oil to remove the tar from the poor dog for about four hours before taking it back to the shelter. Few days later, the tar was completely removed from its body. Although TAR BABY is safe, it is petrified by the incident for the first few days. September has ended and October is here! What can you think of other than the famous Oktoberfest when October strikes?! Oktoberfest is undoubtedly the world's largest funfair held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany! Generally, it is a 16 day festival starting from the late September until the first weekend of October. There are more than six million people coming from all parts of the world to this event every year. In fact, Oktoberfest is locally known as Wiesn, after the colloquial name of the fairgrounds (Theresienwiese) themselves. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture as it has been held since 1810. The Oktoberfest celebrations has also been held in other cities around the world, which are in similar fashion as the original Munich event.

The Oktoberfest Beer is a registered trademark by the Club of Munich Brewers. With a stringent rule designed by Oktoberfest Beer, only those beers which comform to the Reinheitsgebot and brewed witihin the city limits of Munich can be served at the Munich Oktoberfest. The breweries that are selected to produce Oktoberfest Beer are Augustiner-Bräu, Hacker-Pschorr-Bräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner, Spatenbräu, and Staatliches Hofbräu-München.

Also, there has been an annual Oktoberfest poster competition sine 1952, where the selection of the official Oktoberfest poster is made by a jury, which chooses amongst few invited candidates. These 11 participants are either coming from art and design schools or have won some awards for their past creations before being qualified to secure a place in the Oktoberfest poster competition. Each of them gets to send in 2 designs and they would receive a royalty of 500€. The jury, who is oblivious to the artists of the designs, will then choose his/her favourite design. While the first runner up was awarded 1250€ this year, the third place obtained 750€ and the winner received 2500€. The winner of the competition also gets the honour of getting to witness his/her design being printed on approximately 10 000 posters and 100 000 brochures which would be published in German, English and Italian. Following the tradition of the competition, the winning design also gets to e n the official collector's mug, a steadily growing series of glass or stone mugs, each showing the official poster design of the respective year.
