Joseph Schooling, 21, beat his idol Michael Phelps in the 100-meter butterfly event at Rio 2016 on Saturday 13 August 2016. In tandem, he also won Singapore's first-ever Olympic gold medal! Prior to this, he was just another Singaporean schoolboy like others. It was back in 2008 when he first met his hero, the Olympic gold medalist at a training camp when the US Olympic swim team visited Singapore and asked for a photo with him. Who would ever thought that eight years later he managed to beat Phelps, along with Chad le Clos, and Laszlo Cseh, not to mention secure a gold medal for his country. In addition, the Asian champion also set a new Olympic record of 50.39 seconds at the 100-meter butterfly event.

Hail from Singapore, Schooling moved to the US for an extensive training at a young age of 14 and went to Colles School in Jacksonville in Florida. After that, he further his studies at the University of Texas where he also met his girlfriend Casey Shomaker, who is also a student from the same university. According to Schooling, "It feels great, it kinds of feels surreal right now, it's crazy... I really can't describe how this moment feels. All the adrenaline is running through my veins right now. It's a dream come true...I'm really honoured and privileged to swim alongside some of these great names, people who changed the face of our sport... I can't really tell you how grateful I am to have this change to swim in an Olympic final and to represent our country."

Several weeks ago, I went to Causeway Point in Woodlands, Singapore to try the eminent Spanish frozen yogurt, Llao Llao that seems to be a craze for everyone in both Malaysia and Singapore. I practically heard my friends and cousins talked about them incessantly regarding how delicious it is. To top it off, Llao Llao is a pretty healthy dessert as the frozen yogurt is made of skmmed milk with a wide array of toppings such as fresh fruits, nuts, chocolates, sauces and the likes.  The price starts at SGD$ 4.50 for a regular tub of frozen yogurt with a choice of three toppings. Fortunately the queue was not long but we ended up waiting for a good 10 minutes before reaching our turn. Well, based on my cousin's opinion, we ordered two regular tubs with almost the same toppings, which were chocolate syrup with chocolate balls and nuts "clearly he has a penchant for chocolates". I have to admit that the frozen yogurt was a little bit sourish but they matched really well with the sweetness of the chocolate syrup. Perhaps, I should ordered fruits instead of more chocolate-based toppings the next time as I was craving for them afterwards. Overall, they were definitely delicious and I would come back for a second visit in the near future. Some time ago, I went to Singapore to visit my cousins and brother for a couple of days during my holiday. Anyway, I heard from my friends about this delicious Korean organic soft serve ice-cream called the Milkcow in Kuala Lumpur. While I was wandering around the IMM with my cousins and brother a day later, I stumble upon one of its branches and I was really interested to try it! Although there were numerous selections for the toppings, we decided to purchase the popular flavour which was the Milky Cube as well as the Cookies and Cream. The Milky Cube cost SGD$5.90 which was slightly pricer than the Cookies and Cream which cost SGD$5.50.



The ice-creams were indeed soft and have a smooth texture which melted once they were in your mouth. Even though they were scrumptious, I was a little bit disappointed as they were quite similar to other soft-serve ice-creams that I have tried in the past. In addition, the milk cube was just as normal as it seems where a cube of honey was placed on the top of the ice-cream. Perhaps my expectation was too high as I was hoping that there might be something more than just that. Cookies and Cream was never a bad idea because who does not like cookies and cream?! No one.
