Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

July 22, 2014

A sequel to the 2011 blockbuster 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' is a 2014 American science fiction film directed by Matt Reeves. It is undoubtedly a successful movie, gaining numerous positive reviews from critics. In addition, this movie is thoughtful enough to highlight the issue of violence, where it showed that violence will not solve anything. This is clearly portrayed through the leader of the fellow apes, Caesar (Andy Serkis) who chose peace over war with the humans that intrude their land. However, one of Caesar's followers, Koba (Toby Kebbell), whom he saved from a laboratory after suffering from an ordeal, was filled with hatred and vengeance against human beings. Filled with anger, Koba secretly planned a plot to take down Caesar and rule the apes. He then stole a gun from humans and shot Caesar from afar, claiming that it was done by the intruders. Then, Koba incited Caesar's son, Blue Eyes (Nick Thurston), and other apes to revenge and destroy the humans while they were still weak. Fortunately, Caesar was still alive and he was saved by the intruders, namely Malcolm (Jason Clarke) and his team. After partially recovered, Caesar went to the city to find Koba and defeated him. Nonetheless, it was a little too late for making peace with humans since they had seeked assistance from the army to battle with the apes. In my humble opinion, 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' is quite an interesting film as the apes actually speak English! Besides, the film also reflects the ugly side of human beings, which is fond of solving problems using violence. Overall, this film is great and ought to be watched by everyone!
