PokéStop in Pokémon Go

Recently there has been a craze about Pokémon Go all over the world (well mostly). As you can notice, people tend to wander around and stare at their mobile phones more frequently than they used to be, it is all because of this childhood game that has been created by a company called Niantic. Also, Pokémon Go is available in both iOS and Android for free! While that might be one of the reason the app has become so popular, the real deal that attracts so many players could be the fact that they are now able to catch the pokemons in real life (sort of)! They pop up on players' mobile phones alongside real world objects. (The app uses the phone's GPS and camera to turn real life surroundings into playing ground). Having said that, the downside of the game is that it really drains the battery life of the phones. Anyway that's another story.

The objective of the game is to catch as many pokémon as possible to fill in the pokedex and to train them. Ultimately, you are on a journey to be the Pokémon Master! So what is the PokéStop that appears on the map? A Pokéstop is basically a location where you can move into close proximity to utilise a variety of features. PokéStops are generally scattered all over the map where they are shown as floating blue cubes which will transform into blue PokéBall-like image that floats. When you reach PokéStops, simply swipe the image to collect items. Some of the items you will be able to obtain include:
  • PokéBalls (all-types)
  • Potions
  • Incubators
  • Eggs
  • Lucky Eggs
  • Revives
  • Incenses
If you feel lazy to walk around for other PokéStop stations, you can just wait at the same place for five minutes to re-swipe and get more things. I have personally tried the game and I find it quite fascinating. Not only does it relive my childhood memories (massive Pokémon fan), but also I get to be more interactive and catch them with much more effort rather than just pressing "A" and "B" buttons (if you know what I mean). Go download and try the game if you have not already done so! Till then, au revoir!
