Mercy lyrics

You've got a hold of me
Don't even know your power
I stand a hundred feet
But I fall when I'm around ya

Show me an open door
Then you go and slam it on me
I can't take anymore
I'm saying baby

Please have mercy on me
Take it easy on my heart
Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart

I'd drive through the night
Just to be near you baby
Heart open, testify
Tell me that I'm not crazy

I'm not asking for a lot
Just that you're honest with me
My pride is all I got
I'm saying baby

Please have mercy on me
Take it easy on my heart
Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart
Would you please have mercy on me
I'm a puppet on your strings
And even though you got good intentions
I need you to set me free
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart

Consuming all the air inside my lungs
Ripping all the skin from off my bones
I'm prepared to sacrifice my life
I would gladly do it twice
Consuming all the air inside my lungs
Ripping all the skin from off my bones
I'm prepared to sacrifice my life
I would gladly do it twice

Oh, please have mercy on me
Take it easy on my heart
Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart
Would you please have mercy on me
I'm a puppet on your string
And even though you got good intentions
I need you to set me free
I'm begging you for mercy, mercy (on my heart)
I'm begging you, begging you please baby
I'm begging you for mercy, mercy (on my heart)
Oh, I'm begging you, I'm begging you, yeah

Recently Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has released his new song 'Treat You Better" which is also the lead single from his upcoming album "Illuminate". The music video features a scene revolving around a situation of violence between couples. A girl was shown being abused by her boyfriend whereas Mendes hopes to be with her and struggles to understand why the girl is still with the man. In addition, it also highlights the importance of eradicating domestic violence issues. Shawn explained that there were two stories going on at the same time in the music video.

According to Shawn in a behind-the-scenes clip posted by Buzzfeed, "This girl is in an abusive relationship with this guy and you kind of see her struggle with, 'Do I love him?' (and) what she goes through kind of rebelling a bit... and on the other hand, it's me and kind of this alternative reality where I'm stuck inside of this room, I'm kind of trapped." He further added, "it's almost like I've been in here forever and I can't get out, as much as I want to help the girl, I can't get out of this thing 'cause there's something out there that's not letting me."

At the end of the music video, it also displays the number for the National Domestic Violence Hotline. What do you think of Shawn's "Treat You Better"? Let me know in the comment box below and enjoy the music video of the song below. Till then, au revoir!

Treat You Better lyrics

I won't lie to you
I know he's just not right for you
And you can tell me if I'm off
But I see it on your face
When you say that he's the one that you want
And you're spending all your time
In this wrong situation
And anytime you want it to stop

I know I can treat you better than he can
And any girl like you deserves a gentleman
Tell me why are we wasting time
On all your wasted crying
When you should be with me instead
I know I can treat you better
Better than he can

I'll stop time for you
The second you say you'd like me too
I just wanna give you the loving that you're missing
Baby, just to wake up with you
Would be everything I need and this could be so different
Tell me what you want to do

'Cause I know I can treat you better than he can
And any girl like you deserves a gentleman
Tell me why are we wasting time
On all your wasted crying
When you should be with me instead
I know I can treat you better
Better than he can

Better than he can

Give me a sign
Take my hand, we'll be fine
Promise I won't let you down
Just know that you don't
Have to do this alone
Promise I'll never let you down

'Cause I know I can treat you better than he can
And any girl like you deserves a gentleman
Tell me why are we wasting time
On all your wasted crying
When you should be with me instead
I know I can treat you better
Better than he can

Better than he can
Better than he can
