Time passes by really fast and here I am, back in hostel and started my fourth year of medical school two weeks ago. Everything is still pretty chaotic at the moment and it is heart breaking to realise that there are couple of the familiar faces not appearing in the lecture theatre for they have not made it this far. While some have decided to repeat the year, several of them drop out from the course and venture into different fields (perhaps). I would have to admit that for the past two weeks the schedule was really packed and dull; we literally have to attend lectures from 9 in the morning till 4.30 in the evening with an hour break in between. The topics covered are somewhat similar with the ones I learn during second year.

However, we will need to explore those topics in-depth and discuss about the minute details that go along with them. All in all, I think that it is still manageable but I am just pretty worn out both physically and mentally as I have enjoyed my summer break without revising a single thing. That definitely makes my mind a little rusty. Also, I have been annoyed by this sudden back pain which has been occurring since a week ago. Well, it is more a like a soreness initially but for the pass few days I feel a sharp pain whenever I try to bend forward. Hopefully it is just a mechanical back pain and nothing serious is going on. Gloria Tang Tsz-Kei (鄧紫棋) or more commonly known by her stage name G.E.M. has recently performed a magnificent cover of korean singer Taeyang's (he is also one of the members of BIGBANG, a Korean boyband) song "Eyes, Nose, Lips" (눈,코,입) in a Mandarin version entitled "紅薔薇白玫瑰" on "Heroes Of Remix" (盖世英雄).

"Heroes Of Remix" is a Chinese variety show which features electronic dance music (EDM) where performers remix music and dance from various kind of original tracks. It emphasises on dance music talent format where deejays, singers and vocalists co-operate and compete to create Chines EDM music. Under the guidance of four different mentors, eight rookie singers or bands will perform live Chinese songs that they have remixed and the piece that received the most votes from the audience will be incorporated in albums.

The four participating mentors include eminent Chinese-American singer Wang Leehom (王力宏), South Korean singer Park Jae-sang (PSY), Taiwanese singer Harlem Yu (庾澄庆), as well as Chinese duo Phoenix Legend (凤凰传奇).

Recently Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has released his new song 'Treat You Better" which is also the lead single from his upcoming album "Illuminate". The music video features a scene revolving around a situation of violence between couples. A girl was shown being abused by her boyfriend whereas Mendes hopes to be with her and struggles to understand why the girl is still with the man. In addition, it also highlights the importance of eradicating domestic violence issues. Shawn explained that there were two stories going on at the same time in the music video.

According to Shawn in a behind-the-scenes clip posted by Buzzfeed, "This girl is in an abusive relationship with this guy and you kind of see her struggle with, 'Do I love him?' (and) what she goes through kind of rebelling a bit... and on the other hand, it's me and kind of this alternative reality where I'm stuck inside of this room, I'm kind of trapped." He further added, "it's almost like I've been in here forever and I can't get out, as much as I want to help the girl, I can't get out of this thing 'cause there's something out there that's not letting me."

Hadi Wibawa is a chemical engineering student who has been studying at the Imperial College London in London. Hailing from Medan, Indonesia, Hadi has not returned to his hometown for the last three years due to his studies. In addition, he has also shed a staggering 20kg (45 pounds) off his weight, making him barely recognisable if compared to his previous image. When the homesick feeling started to kick in after being away from home for so long, Hadi decided to go back to surprise his parents and siblings and to see if his family members are still able to recognise him with the new skinnier look.

He flew back secretly and asked one of his brothers to pick him up from the airport.  Then the elder brother arranged a family gathering at a restaurant without letting them know about Hadi's return. While four of them sat on a table together, Hadi sat on a table next to them. His mother then started looking at Hadi suspiciously and she kept telling her husband and sons that the guy really looks like Hadi but Hadi's dad immediately denied it. When his dad went out for a while, Hadi move over and hugged both his mom and elder brother and they were delighted to see him! Then he went  back to his seat to prank his dad when he returned to the table.

Hadi's dad was pretty sceptical at first but in the end he realised that the stranger who was sitting at a table beside them was Hadi all along! "Scars To Your Beautiful" is yet again another amazing piece of song created by Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara for her debut studio album "Know-It-All". It was released on as her third single from the same album. Written by Cara herself along with Warren Felder, Coleridge Tillman and Andrew Wansel, Alessia states that this song talks about body image. While it is mainly targeting on fellow women, she thinks that men can relate to this song as well.

"I wanted to do this kind of video for a very long time. Since we had this song — and since we knew it was going to be a single — I had this vision of many different cinematic shots of different kinds of people. I wanted all kinds of people — young, old, whatever their situation, whether it's visible scars, non-visible scars — just a bunch of different women, and there are some men in there as well because it can reach out to guys too. But I wanted real shots of real people telling their stories, and showing the story through little vignettes." -Alessia Cara in Cosmopolitan interview.

The music video for this song features cancer survivors, transgenders, racial minorities and others who open out about their insecurities and flaws. In my opinion, this is a great song where it urges people to embrace themselves and more importantly, to accept themselves as who they are and love themselves. Recently there has been a craze about Pokémon Go all over the world (well mostly). As you can notice, people tend to wander around and stare at their mobile phones more frequently than they used to be, it is all because of this childhood game that has been created by a company called Niantic. Also, Pokémon Go is available in both iOS and Android for free! While that might be one of the reason the app has become so popular, the real deal that attracts so many players could be the fact that they are now able to catch the pokemons in real life (sort of)! They pop up on players' mobile phones alongside real world objects. (The app uses the phone's GPS and camera to turn real life surroundings into playing ground). Having said that, the downside of the game is that it really drains the battery life of the phones. Anyway that's another story.
