Cafe.Waiting.Love 等一个人咖啡 (2014)
September 19, 2014Best selling director 九把刀 (Nine Knives) whose real name is Giddens Ko (柯景騰) returns with a romantic comedy, "Cafe. Waiting. Love" (等一个人咖啡), based on his novel of the same title. Cafe. Waiting. Love. features Hong Kong actress Vivian Chow (周慧敏) as one of the cast in the movie.
This movie is about a college freshman, Lee Si Ying (Vivian Sung, 宋芸樺) who has a part time job at "Cafe. Waiting. Love." owned by a mysterious woman. The lady boss would always sit at a corner of the cafeteria and stare through the window every single day, as if she is waiting for someone. Actually Si Ying chooses to work in that cafe for she has a crush on Ze Yu (Marcus Chang, (張立昂), a guy who often visits the cafe with different ladies every time. She befriends with a tomboyish barista in the cafe, Abushi (Megan Lai, 賴雅妍),who can make any coffee, even the most ridiculous requests by her customers.
One day, college senior A-Tuo (Bruce, 布魯斯) enters the cafe with a group of friends and bumps into Abushi, his previous girlfriend. His friends thought that Abushi is the one who steals A-Tuo's girlfriend away from him (thus making A-Tuo's girlfriend sexually oriented), Consequently, they begin to tease him in front of Abushi. Si Ying then helps A-Tuo as she cannot bear the situation that A-Tuo is facing. They soon become friends and A-Tuo introduces a lot his friends to Si Ying.
A-Tuo is a living legend in his university. He is once the President of "Iron Head' club and he is forced to remain in university for 7 years as well as wearing a bikini and carrying a Napa cabbage all the time because he lost in bets that he has made with his friends. He works a lot of part time jobs to save money as he wants to travel around the world while he is young.
After getting along for a period of time, A-Tuo realises that he has fallen in love with Si Ying. The evidence is vivid for when he loves someone, he can magically takes a sausage from the back of the girl's head. Finally when A-Tuo manage to save enough amount of money and decides to leave Taiwan for travel. At that moment, he confesses his love for Si Ying yet she rejected him. In the end, Si Ying realises that she loves A-Tuo and she waits for his return.
Personally, I think this movie is romantic with a tinge of humour in it. At times, you expect some heart-touching moments to happen yet they are interfered by some funny actions. Some of the hilarious moments happen when Abushi ask for the preferences of the customers on their coffees. What do you think of this movie? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below! Enjoy the trailer of the movie as well as the theme song of the movie. Till then, au revoir! :)
